Don Ronsberg Visits family in Norway

Date of Trip: June 1995
Trip Summary By: Don Ronsberg

Start off:  We stayed in Trondheim for 2 days.  That’s where Tove (our 4th Cousin removed after Ole and Marit came over in 1881), met us (along with Kari – Tove’s Mom).
Kari and Tove lived in Trondheim at the time.  Trondhiem is on the western coast of Norway with lots of nearby Fiords to tour.

3rd day out – traveled inland to Selbu to meet the rest of the Ronsberg family.  The family farm is about 10 miles south and east of Selbu on Selbuveggen road until you come to an area called Hyttbakken (we’d call it a Township here).  There’s a great intro and breakdown of the family at the farm at the beginning of the video when we are actually sitting in Mikal and Mary’s house.  Peder Ronsberg stayed on the farm when Ole left in 1881.  Mikal was Peders great grandson.

Mikal has 1 younger sister (Kari – already mentioned earlier), 1 older sister (mentioned in the video) and 1 younger brother (Hans).  We stayed at Hans’s house while we were there.  Hans is married (Ingunn), with 2 daughters.  Mikal and Mary had 3 children – Par, Siv and Hans Jr.  Mikal passed 3 years ago and now Siv (middle child – daughter) is living on the farm.
